Pulse Function for Control of the Coherent Excitation in Stimulated Raman Spectroscopy

چکیده

A selective excitation of closely spaced Raman transitions using femtosecond pulse shaping is studied within a semiclassical approach. An analytical pulse function is proposed having duration T that selectively excites one of two transitions separated by a frequency interval less than 1/T. It is shown that, for intense fields, both the field amplitude and pulse frequency spectrum have to be carefully chosen to achieve the control of excitations. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Single-fiber-laser-based wavelength tunable excitation for coherent Raman spectroscopy

We demonstrate coherent Raman spectroscopy (CRS) using a tunable excitation source based on a single femtosecond fiber laser. The frequency difference between the pump and the Stokes pulses was generated by soliton self-frequency shifting in a nonlinear optical fiber. Spectra of C─H stretches of cyclohexane were measured simultaneously by stimulated Raman gain (SRG) and coherent anti-Stokes Ram...

Filament-based stimulated Raman spectroscopy

A new multiplexed stimulated Raman spectroscopic technique encompassing a single-shot spectral measurement range of over 3900 cm is presented. Impulsive excitation of all Raman active vibrational modes present in a medium is achieved by self-compression of a laser pulse undergoing filamentation in air, creating coherent vibrational wave-packets. These wave-packets create a macroscopic polarizat...

Electronic resonances in broadband stimulated Raman spectroscopy

Spontaneous Raman spectroscopy is a formidable tool to probe molecular vibrations. Under electronic resonance conditions, the cross section can be selectively enhanced enabling structural sensitivity to specific chromophores and reaction centers. The addition of an ultrashort, broadband femtosecond pulse to the excitation field allows for coherent stimulation of diverse molecular vibrations. Wi...

Thz Field Generation and Manipulation by Coherent Control over Phonon-polaritons

Mixed polar lattice vibrational and electromagnetic modes, called phonon-polaritons, which propagate at light-like speeds through their host crystals are unique and powerful sources of THz radiation. One way to excite them is by non-resonant impulsive stimulated Raman scattering using femtosecond laser pulses. New techniques in spatiotemporal imaging and spatiotemporal and spatial-only femtosec...

Single Broadband Phase-Shaped Pulse Stimulated Raman Spectroscopy for Standoff Trace Explosive Detection.

Recent success with trace explosives detection based on the single ultrafast pulse excitation for remote stimulated Raman scattering (SUPER-SRS) prompts us to provide new results and a Perspective that describes the theoretical foundation of the strategy used for achieving the desired sensitivity and selectivity. SUPER-SRS provides fast and selective imaging while being blind to optical propert...
